Power Mechanical, Inc is currently seeking hardworking, career-oriented individuals of good character to fill multiple Structural Pipefitter/Fabricator positions within our organization. Our company is family-owned and operated in Newport News, Virginia, and we specialize in the production of energy, both hot and cold. We rent, sell, purchase, service, and install a wide variety of large industrial equipment which includes boilers, chillers, cooling towers, valves, generators, and more. Power Mechanical has been in business for 31 years and currently has approximately 100 employees, many of which have been with us since the day we opened. Our company serves clients on five continents within various industries, ranging from projects at the White House to providing equipment on the other side of the world to textile mills in Saudi Arabia.  The Fitter/Fabricator position is primarily responsibility is to:

  • Assemble structural metal products using tools, machines, and their own hands
  • Fabricate various types of products


This position will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Studying and interpreting blueprints and assembly instructions
  • Fabricating framework or shells for boilers, chillers, and other metal products
  • Interpreting measurements
  • Resolving assembly and production components
  • Altering dimensions to fit specifications
  • Complete preventative maintenance
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Preforming repairs
  • Operation of fabricating machines such as grinders, sanders, saws, drill presses, and press brakes.
  • Reporting errors,
  • Completing necessary documents
  • Checking that parts are fitted and screwed in properly.
  • Adhering to all safety regulations
  • Lifting 75+ lbs.
  • Excellent customer service
  • Effective communication skills.


This position will requires

  • Ability work independently
  • Ability to stay focused
  • Knowledge of basic tools and measurements
  • High school diploma or an equivalent; post-secondary training is preferred.
  • Two years of experience with fitting or fabrication is preferred.
  • Basic math skills with a proficiency in geometry and algebra.


Candidate should be willing and able to learn and have a dependable and reliable work ethic. This position is fulltime and requires overtime. A candidate with a background in boilers or chillers is preferred.


You will quickly learn the industry as you progress. We focus on character and adaptability so the applicant must have a professional demeanor, be punctual and easy to get along with yet focused and self-driven.
