Position: Sheet Metal Helper

Primary Purpose:  Sheet Metal Helpers assist mechanics with layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, and repairs of sheet metal products, equipment, and ductwork. 

Essential Duties: 

  • Installs duct-hangers, ductwork piping takeoffs
  • Help set up tools and equipment
  • Loads and unloads construction materials from trucks and into buildings
  • Furnishes experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Cleans work area and restocks supplies and materials as necessary
  • Makes subassemblies and hangers as directed by mechanic
  • Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and devices during installation
  • Performs other routine duties as directed by experienced craft person
  • Maintains good housekeeping and a safe work area
  • Works safely, encourages others to do so, and complies with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Work at heights without fear
  • Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

Required:

  • One-three years sheet metal experience in construction/industrial environment
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record, criminal record, and be able to pass a drug screen
  • Available to work full work schedule and any additional overtime with little to no notification
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of trade related hand tools
  • Good verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • HS diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Prior military experience
