Position can be based in Virginia or DC.

 

Summary:

                 Market Mangers are required to have an ownership mentality in representing Golden Sands in their respective markets. The ability to manage sales and operations is essential. As a service provider, the manager should be able to understand the customer and their expectations and facilitate their needs through in-house technicians or outside corporate partners. Knowledge of all facets of the construction industry are key to the success of the market. Understanding how to work through multiple projects at one time is key. Multi-tasking is very important to the success of the market. A successful manager will be able to manage field and office staff remotely. Sales is a big part of our success, the ability to sell and recognize corporate partners pricing is essential to the markets success. As a market leader, you will have financial responsibilities to bring projects in on time and within budget.

 

Essential Function:

Oversee the coordination of building space allocation and layout, communication services, and facility expansion

Plan budgets and schedule facility modifications, including cost estimates and take offs

Inspect construction and installation progress

Responsible for preventive & reactive maintenance of client facility equipment

Responsible for preventive & reactive maintenance of client production equipment

Experience in maintenance trades

Knowledge of local building codes

Manage a team of up to 10 full time and part time employees. Manage multiple markets. Maintain the core set of values set in place by GS upper management. Make sure that customer service and satisfaction are priority number one. Mentor your team and make sure you support them by knowing their job and the key points to success. Managers should be able to report monthly progress and outline a plan to move forward with the growth of the market they manage. Contract negotiation is key to the success of the market, understanding pricing is very important.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which will typically involve 50+ hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site

Travel

You must be willing to travel as necessary including overnights out-of-town and weekends.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma and 10+ years relative work experience

Preferred Education and Experience

Market managers should have a working knowledge of general construction to include windows and doors, painting, concrete and masonry, and general carpentry. Plumbing, electric, and HVAC knowledge is a plus. Management experience in managing up to 25 employees is needed. Knowing industry standards and codes will help in determining the proper repair procedures. Working with a team mentality is needed. OSHA training is a plus.

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
