Job Summary: The Plumbing Mechanic is responsible for complete commercial plumbing services including new construction, change-outs, retrofits, and other plumbing projects assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials
  • Identifies and safely uses required tools and special equipment
  • Selects the type and size of pipe required
  • Locates and marks positions for connections and fixtures
  • Installs supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures, and equipment
  • Assembles and installs valves and fittings
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains water treatment equipment, piping, and controls; underground storm sanitary and water piping systems; sinks, tubs, and toilets; water heaters and conditioners; plumbing fixtures, appliances, and trim
  • Tests pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
  • Maintains documentation for all building codes, installation requirements, and relevant legislation
  • Performs scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures
  • Applies all codes to installations, repairs, and maintenance
  • Ensures all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
  • Ensures all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded; that they meet the requirements of the appropriate codes; and that they meet environmental protection requirements
  • Prepares orders of supplies
  • Keeps daily reports
  • Schedules work in cooperation with other trades and team members

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from a technical or trade school preferred
  • Journeyman or Master's Plumbing License is ideal
  • Three years of experience in commercial plumbing
  • Safety and customer service oriented
  • Fluent English-speaking and writing skills
  • Neat, clean, and professional appearance
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities
  • Team player
  • Able to work irregular and extended hours, including an on-call schedule
  • Unrestricted driver's license in this state
