The Traffic Signal Electrician will be responsible for electrical installations to include traffic signals, roadway and sign lighting, and modification to existing electrical systems as required. This position will also be responsible for other construction duties as assigned.
Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances.
Uses hand tools and testing instruments.
Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication and power circuits.
Assists in isolating defects in wiring, switches, motors, using testing equipment such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp, etc.
Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.
Assists in mounting motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and completing circuits according to diagram specifications.
This position requires, 5 years of experience; Journeyman is preferred.
Must meet physical requirements for the job, including the ability to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 100 pounds, including bulky objects. These positions require repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing beside, onto and under a variety of equipment. Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dampness and humidity.
