Description:

Develop and implement internal and external communications. Proactively identify and implement marketing strategies. Based on awareness and understanding of NGA mission and operations tempo, identify and reach out to potential users and user groups. Analyze customer needs; make appropriate recommendations for message/information development, communication method selection, and timing of messages. Tailor messages by target audience. Research, write, edit, and publish communications products (e.g., print, web, electronic, briefings). Provide direction to graphic designers, briefing developers, photographers, illustrators and other required staff. Prepare material for publication and other media both internally and externally. Manage and monitor production schedules. Develop new communication methods to reach target audiences. Support NGA senior leaders by writing speeches, talking points, video scripts, briefings, and other communications products (e.g., emails, articles). Proficient with PC computer platforms and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal and customer service skills. Supports IA by drafting talking points, briefings, and other communications products intended for both internal and external NGA audiences.

Required Skills by Level:

EXPERT

Demonstrated experience leading the strategic development of communications programs based on corporate communications concepts, practices, and application; analyze metrics, monitor, evaluate, and report on organizational business functions. Demonstrated experience in implementing actionable and targeted strategic communications plans and messaging – such as stakeholder analysis, change management strategies, organizational readiness, and training plans. Demonstrated experience aligning strategic communications initiatives and activities with overall program plans, objectives, and timelines. Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing strategic communications plans that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance. Demonstrated experience advising senior executives on recommended communications improvement, change management, and other related program implementation activities.

Demonstrated experience in applying knowledge and understanding of international affairs and partner engagements. Demonstrated experience in facilitating discussions, surveys, focus groups, workshops, etc. to understand stakeholder needs, gather input for assessments, and articulate change vision and objectives.

 

SENIOR 

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience within related field (11-14 years’ experience). Experience working with Senior NGA Leadership, DoD, and military to provide OCC support to high-level visits and events to include preparation of NGA presentations and slick sheets, managing dry runs, read ahead materials, prep packages, placemats, presentations and briefing materials. Experience tracking and managing both internal and external engagements for NGA Senior Leadership to include schedules, agendas, and planning materials. Experience developing NGA agency-wide budgets, strategic outreach plans, strategic communications plans, and informal materials for a variety of audiences to include informational materials for new employees, and prospective hires, Congress, industry, leadership and DoD/IC customers and stakeholders to include measurement, follow-up and analysis. Experience leading corporate communications planning for EXCOM events, EXCOM visits for NGA senior leadership engagements with the workforce including D/NGA Town Halls, EXCOM Brown Bags, Jabber sessions and ad hoc workforce interactions to include coordination of schedules, agendas and event planning materials. Experience managing 20+ high level engagements in support of senior leadership with short timelines and shifting priorities simultaneously. Experience facilitating and coordinating meetings to include dry runs, IPRs and engagements with management and senior level executives. Experience tracking and managing both internal and external engagements for senior level managers and executives. Experience developing and managing agency-wide budgets. Experience working with government organizations on a variety of missions, diverse workforces and cultures.

 

MID

Two years of experience that demonstrates extensive knowledge of process flows that will support tracking, monitoring, and reporting on a wide variety of issues. Demonstrated experience in administering organizational activities and events. Demonstrated experience assessing communications metrics and data to support senior decision makers at the executive level for strategic communications decisions.

Demonstrated experience with PC platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated experience with verbal and written communication and coordination skills to effectively work with individuals at all levels. Demonstrated experience performing research/information gathering activities.

 

JUNIOR

Experience with providing strategic communications support, speechwriting or technical writing. Familiarity with defense and intelligence community issues. Experience with data gathering and analytical skills. Has basic knowledge of the Intelligence Community, and the Department of Defense. Knowledge of NGA desired.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience within related field; Years of Experience: 3-6

 

ENTRY
