As a result of our continued growth Engineered Services Inc. is seeking candidates to join our team as a BAS Installation Technician.  Founded in 1972, and headquartered in Sterling, VA, ESI has grown to specialize in the more exacting varieties of Building Automation Systems & Services such as digital facility automation, access control, systems integration, graphical user interfaces, design-build projects and much more. ESI is a privately owned and operated business with over 70 employees servicing the Washington DC, Southern Virginia and Tidewater Virginia regions.

The Installation Technician will coordinate, manage, and oversee the installation of ongoing automation projects and service work as required. Must be able to exercise administrative and technical supervision over assigned subcontractors and in house employees. Will be responsible for the quality control of all installations and the adherence to company standards. Must be able to provide a timely identification of problems and provide a proposal of creative solutions. Must have the ability to demonstrate good technical and applications knowledge for the systems being installed. Typical systems are Delta Controls, Schneider Electric, Andover Controls, StruxureWare, and Tridium product lines. Installation Technicians are expected to install, and perform checkout of all assigned projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Systems installations
  • Project supervision

  • Field wiring terminations
  • Troubleshooting
  • Commissioning
  • Blueprint interpretation
  • Specification Compliance
  • Control circuit wiring
  • Panel building and wiring
  • Electrical system conduit installation
  • Coordinate with field supervisor and project manager
  • Project meetings
  • Other duties as directed

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Provide the planning necessary to insure adherence to the construction schedule
  • Maintain and review daily job reports and other project documents as required
  • Maintain all inspections for projects
  • Supervise, instruct and direct apprentices and journeymen as assigned
  • Demonstrate the ability to further the skills and productivity of apprentices and journeymen
  • Provide commissioning/checkout in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot and repair controls installation problems
  • Strong working knowledge of submittals, specifications and drawings
  • The placement of sensors in large mechanical systems
  • Assist the air balance contractor
  • Provide T&M estimates for pricing extras
  • Provide service and warranty work for projects already installed.
  • Maintain accurate as-built documents and provide this information in a timely manner to the project manager

Additional Skills and Experience (Mid-Level and Senior Technicians): 

  • Journeyman or Master in Electrical and/or HVAC
  • 4 Plus years working with HVAC controls and Building Automation Systems
  • Valid Drivers License with clean safe driving record.
  • Owns minimum tools required to perform tasks as assigned.
  • Can supervise multiple projects and or large field crews
